Christmas Message By Deputy Minister OF Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment

24th December 2024

Dear All,

On the threshold of the joyful season of Christmas, I send my heartiest greetings to all in Sri Lanka and around the world. This blessed season is a call for us to ponder the perennial message of love, hope, and unity at the core of the Christmas spirit.

Christmas marks the birth of Jesus Christ, whose teachings inspire compassion, kindness, and goodwill among all people. His message transcends boundaries of religion, culture, and nationality, reminding us of our shared humanity and the importance of living in harmony with one another. The spirit of Christmas is embodied in those who spread good cheer, and provide warmth and comfort to all. The message of peace should prevail throughout the year.

Christmas is a time to celebrate, especially in Sri Lanka, a country made richer by the tapestry of diversity, a time for bonding together in unity, love, and togetherness. It is a time when communities come together in sharing the spirit of giving, embracing forgiveness, and extending a helping hand to people in need.

As we celebrate Christmas this year, our thoughts go back to the many challenges that we, as a nation, have faced and the strength of our people. From economic hardships to reconciliation and development, the resilience of our communities has shone through.

The spirit of Christmas strengthens our resolve for continued efforts toward peace, prosperity, and well-being for all Sri Lankans.

Let us embrace the hope and promise of Christmas, not only during this season but throughout the year, as we work together to create a better world for future generations.

I wish you all a blessed Christmas and a New Year filled with peace, joy, and fulfillment.

Arun Hemachandra , MP
