COMMANDER OF THE SRI LANKAN AIR FORCE VISITS PAKISTAN
Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa the Commander of the Sri Lankan Air Force made a five day visit to Pakistan on the invitation of Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force to attend as a guest of honour in Exercise Indus Shield-2024, the largest military exercise in the region.
During his visit he called on General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI (M), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) at Joint Staff Headquarters Rawalpindi and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu Chief of Air Staff of Pakistan Air Force at Air Headquarters Islamabad on 24 October 2024. During the meetings, both sides reiterated their commitment to enhance bilateral security and defence collaboration and covered a wide array of topics pertaining to military diplomacy including, maintenance support and training domains and capacity building of the Sri Lankan Air Force.
On October 23, 2024, he observed the final stages of Exercise Indus Shield-2024 during the Distinguished Visitors Day.
Additionally, he visited the National Aerospace and Science and Technological Park (NASTP) and the Pakistan Aerospace Complex in Kamra. Brigadier Kaminda Silva and Colonel Muhammad Farooq, Defence Avisors of Sri Lanka and Pakistan High Commissions, accompanied him on the visit.
